Breaking the cycle of poverty
The Christian Mission (TCM) announced a significant development in its building expansion plan. In May 2023, TCM acquired an existing building located at 919 N. Main St., encompassing a generous 27,000 square feet. This acquisition has prompted a pivot in TCM’s original construction plans, with the previously purchased land now set to be utilized as part of the new campus. These two properties, located adjacent to each other on North Main Street, will enable TCM to expand its services and foster greater collaboration with other agencies, resulting in a comprehensive one-stop shop for those in need.
TCM has long been committed to meeting crisis needs and providing comprehensive programming to break the cycle of poverty. Over the years, we have witnessed the growing needs of those we serve, and it became increasingly clear that our current location on North Broad St. limits our ability to fulfill these needs. Our future home located at 919 N. Main St. is not only about the physical structure. It is about creating space that fosters personal growth, dignity, and collaboration – a safe space for individuals to have the resources they need to better their lives and where our community can come together to create positive change.
This 27,000 SF structure will house four classrooms, a tutoring and technology lab, a client choice pantry, a community room, a conference room, a thrift shop, a catering kitchen, a volunteer Room, and a prayer garden. Increasing our capacity will enable us to bring more individuals and families from crisis to stabilization through case management, education, training, and comprehensive programs.
In addition, we are thrilled to announce that the Iredell County Partnership for Young Children and NC Works will be tenets in our building! Breaking the cycle of poverty is a complex issue, and collaboration among nonprofits amplifies our impact by allowing us to leverage each other’s strengths, resources, and expertise.
- The Partnership for Young Children is dedicated to measurably increasing learning and healthy development of children from birth to age five. It provides services focused on raising the quality of early care and education and supporting families, advancing child health, and expanding literacy.
- NC Works plays a crucial role in connecting job seekers with employment opportunities and supporting them throughout their career development journey. They offer guidance on resume writing, cover letter creation, and interview preparation.
While remaining separate nonprofits, this one-stop shop located in the heart of Downtown Mooresville will lower each of our overhead costs to maximize donor dollars, enabling more funding to go directly to client services.
None of this would be possible without the incredible support of our donors. Your generosity and commitment have been the driving force behind our success, and we are immensely grateful. Together, we are creating a brighter future for generations to come.
